PARADISE POINT PARKLANDS

Public BBQ

Paradise Point Parklands proves that sometimes the best discoveries happen when you least expect them. Tucked along The Esplanade, this delightful stretch of waterfront manages to tick every box for a proper family day out - though you'll want to arrive early unless you fancy circling the car park like a determined vulture. The netted swimming area is a godsend for parents of small children, offering that rare combination of aquatic fun without the nagging worry of what lurks beneath. The playgrounds are mercifully modern, and the walking paths accommodate everything from determined joggers to wobbly scooter pilots. What strikes you most is the civilized nature of it all - proper toilets, exercise equipment that actually works, and an off-leash area where dogs can properly enjoy themselves. The black swans add an unexpectedly elegant touch, gliding about as if they own the place (which, frankly, they probably do). The cafes across the road provide excellent takeaway options, perfect for a waterside picnic. It's the sort of place that reminds you why people move to Queensland in the first place.
